Thyroid Disease

Thyroid Disease

The thyroid gland is located at the base of the neck in front of your trachea (or windpipe). The thyroid gland produces, stores, and releases two hormones—T4 (thyroxine) and T3 (triiodothyronine). This hormones control our metabolisms , when this are being produce at the right rate our metabolism works at the exact speed no too fast and no too slow. When the thyroid is affected this can cause the thyroid gland to make too much or too little hormone, unbalancing our metabolism which causes the patient to feel ill and low in energy. Women at risk of thyroid disease include those who have or have had an autoimmune disease (such as diabetes mellitus)
